stories from the river :: Erica Recto
Our conversation with artist Erica Recto reminds us to come back to our work with a child’s imagination. We discuss rediscovering our playful nature, engaging with our local community, and trusting the process.
cultivating a community of coworkers
All across the Hudson Valley and Upstate New York, there are makers designing, producing, and creating in their studios, while fostering small, independent businesses. Let us introduce you to them and the work they do.

Creativity Loves Company
This philosophy is the driving force behind Hudson River Exchange. We have held these words in mind through everything we've done since 2013 - from creating the Hudson Valley's first maker marketplace showcasing the best handmade goods produced in the area to our current online format and the development of the exchange fund to give makers the opportunity to invest in one another.
Our annual market events provided a place for visitors to meet and support our local artisans as well as a place for makers to meet each other. We opened a retail incubator space operated by makers, the people behind the products. Now with the launch of the online marketplace, we are creating a way to support makers through sales while micro-investing into the growth of their businesses through our community microloan program.
